Trevor Owens has some interesting posts on Fallout on the Play the Past (history scholarship and gaming) site: http://www.playthepast.org/?p=459 and http://www.playthepast.org/?p=679 Besides the things Trevor points out about its handling of history and texts, it’s not really particularly a DHy game (I just happen to randomly be into it; the previous game was set in D.C. where I was living at the time, which might have helped—lots of environments looked like the real ones, especially all the Metro stations).

Speaking of Play the Past - if folks are interested in writing about the playful intersection of games (writ larger) with human history/heritage (writ large) we’d be interested in getting some fresh writing on the site. You can ping me for details.
